چکیده

Many studies about the vegetation layer by means of SAR tomography are model based or make use of some sort of superresolution algorithms. By one side such approaches are often necessary because of the limited resolution characterizing the datasets. On the other side results can be easily a ected by poor accuracy whenever the model does not t. In this paper a totally model free approach is proposed to perform SAR tomography. It is based on the existing relationship between the complex re ectivity pro le along the cross range direction and the multi baseline signal: a Fourier transform. Whenever the baseline distribution is suitable a new stack of uncorrelated complex image can be obtained, each one associated with a particular elevation inside the vegetation layer.

Experiments of Tomography-based Sar Techniques with P-band Polarimetric Data

New opportunities are arising in the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observation of forest scenarios, especially with decimetric and metric radio wavelengths, which possess the capability of penetrating into volumes. Given its capabilities in the three-dimensional imaging of the scattering properties of the observed scene, SAR Tomography (Tomo-SAR) constitutes a good candidate for the analysis o...

Towards Forest Structure Characteristics Retrieval from SAR Tomographic Profiles

SAR Tomography has proven to be a unique tool for the retrieval of 3D structure information from forest scenarios: it can reveal different scattering mechanisms at different heights. However, the translation of these measurements into relevant forest structure information is not straightforward and research is still ongoing. In this direction, this paper suggest a framework for the estimation o...

Differential Tomography: Evolutions of SAR Interferometry for Analyzing Complex Non-Stationary Scenarios

1 — Much interest is growing in advanced interferometric SAR methods for full 3D imaging. Multibaseline SAR tomographic elevation beam forming, i.e. spatial spectral estimation, is a promising technique in this framework. Recently, this concept has been integrated with the differential interferometry concept, producing the advanced differential tomography processing mode which produces ‘space-t...

Radiometric Issues in Adaptive Polarimetric Sar Tomography

Multibaseline (MB) SAR tomography (Tomo-SAR) is an advanced mode of SAR interferometry, allowing full 3D imaging of volumetric and layover scatterers along the azimuth, range and height dimensions. Recently, this technique has also been extended in a polarimetric sense (PolTomo-SAR), exploiting MB SAR data acquired with different polarization channels. In this way, the joint estimation is possi...

Multibaseline polarimetric synthetic aperture radar tomography of forested areas using wavelet-based distribution compressive sensing

The three-dimensional (3-D) structure of forests, especially the vertical structure, is an important parameter of forest ecosystem modeling for monitoring ecological change. Synthetic aperture radar tomography (TomoSAR) provides scene reflectivity estimation of vegetation along elevation coordinates. Due to the advantages of super-resolution imaging and a small number of measurements, distribut...
